What's The Difference Between Where Customers Find You and Where You Send
Your Customers?
Customers can find you in a variety of places. They can find you through
natural search rankings or pay per click advertising. They can
find you on websites like Ebay or Etsy. Customers can also find you through different
shopping networks like PriceGrabber or Yahoo Shopping. Plus,
customers find you via your Facebook Page, Twitter Page, YouTube, or other
social networks.
However, would you send your customers to these websites?
No.
They are not YOUR website. They are not YOUR brand.
When you send your customer to a website, make sure it is YOUR website.

For instance, here is a random Ebay Store that I found online. I want
to purchase a horse SO BADLY! So I find this store for
Cheshire
Horse.
Take a
look at the store and tell me if Cheshire Horse owns this website.
The answer is no. Ebay owns this website. If I don't find the product I want,
great I am on Ebay. If I get bored easily, great I am on Ebay. If I have ADHD,
no problem because once I click a few links on the top... I am gone forever from
this store.
Let's try this again with a horse store on Etsy called
Cozy Horse.
Does Cozy Horse own this website?
Once again the answer is no. Look how easy it is for me to click on the Etsy
link and be taken away from the store.
If you want to tell your friends to visit YOUR website, then send them to a
page that is YOURS.
This is the difference between where customers find you and where you send
your customers.
Ebay, Etsy, etc are all great places to have customers find you. But, once
they find you it is time to keep them as YOUR customer.
Have them sign up for mailing lists. When you send out their product, send them a coupon that takes them to
YOUR store.
Your store should have your logo, your products, and keep them at your
website.
Would you send your customers to view your products on Price Grabber? Why
not? Because they would find your competitor and maybe buy from them.
Sending your customers to an Ebay, Bonanzle, or Etsy store is basically the
same thing. It is too easy to become distracted on these websites and you would
lose the sale.
Yet, I see time and time again people promoting their stores that belong to
other people.
Next time, send them to your store. Next time, send links to your store. Next
time, promote your very own store and let customers find more products that
belong to YOU.
Let's take a look at this
basic horse
store I found hosted with Yahoo.
We have a much better chance of keeping this customer on OUR website and
getting the sale!
This is the difference between where customers find you and where you send
customers.
If you do not have your own ecommerce store and you make at least $40 a month
in profit, then consider starting your own ecommerce website with Yahoo.
They are easy to set up, SEO friendly, pay only 1.5% (compared to 5-15% at
other websites), and you get to keep YOUR customers.
Because of our partnership with Yahoo, we can provide you a
coupon to try out the Yahoo Store free for 2 months. You save almost $80 and
set up your store within hours.
What are you waiting for? Isn't time you send customers to your website?
