Open For Business Webinar FAQs

How does this work if I'm not using a template? You may have discussed this, but I had a problem getting in and missed the first 12 minutes.

You can use the default color schemes provided by Yahoo! when you first setup your site, as well as the templates Yahoo! provides. There are many companies available, such as us, that will provide custom designs and incorporate them into your site for you.

In the edit boxes, could we use HTML code in there?

Absolutely, you can incorporate HTML in many fields throughout the Store Editor. One of the most commonly used fields for HTML code placement is the Caption field, which is the description. You cannot place HTML code in the ID or Code fields, however.
When I make changes to products, do I use the publish button each time or is the site updated when I make changes within store editor?
Only select the Publish button once you want to make your site live. When you update a product, as soon as you click Update, the information will be saved. But clicking publish will actually make the changes live for your customers.
How do you upload multiple items/descriptions at the same time?
We have a page on our site for more information on database uploads. You can get to this page by clicking here. This will explain how to use the database upload to upload multiple images and description. There is also a link to download a template for the database upload.

Are you saying that only 2 items can be placed on the products page? I will have 50 to 500 items.

You can actually put up to 50,000 products into your Yahoo! Store. However, with the basic Yahoo! Store you can upload 2 images per product. If you need to have additional photos for your products, you can always have adjustments made to the programming. Learn more about multiple product images
Can more than one inset image be uploaded (i.e. three total)?
With the Multiple Product Images feature (http://www.1choice4yourstore.com/multiple-inset-table.html) you can have up to 8 additional images.
Are we able to add the link as a "target" so the customer doesn't leave our site?
Yes, if you know HTML, you can add the _target= into HTML coding for the link. The link would look similar to the following:
<a target="_blank" href="http://www.yoururl.com">Name of Link</a>

What happens once an order is placed?

When a customer places an order, the first thing that will happen is a confirmation letter will be sent out to you and the customer. The order will then be found in your store manager area under "orders". When you receive a new order a red star will appear next to orders to notify you as well.

I have a brick and mortar store with an established merchant services account. Can I use the same one?

You would need to contact your merchant and ask them if they can work with FDMS Nashville. Merchants can also choose to process transactions offline through another system. In order to process transactions offline, you must provide your merchant bank name, bank phone number, and account number for verification purposes.
How do we add a logo for UPS (our shipping method)?
You can visit the UPS site or contact your account manager for a logo. Then you can use HTML to show the image inside of your store. We found a great website that will show you step by step how to add an image to your website using HTML. Click here to view this page

Is there a way to set the inventory for products so that the product automatically disappears from the site when out of stock?

If you would like to use Catalog Manager to manage your inventory, you must first select "Database Inventory" as your Yahoo! Merchant Solutions inventory option. Go to your Store Manager, click on "Configure Inventory" in the Order Settings column, and select "Database Inventory" as your inventory option. When a customer adds a product to their cart that is out of stock, they will see a message letting them know that the item is not able to be ordered at this time.
Is there a way to edit the look and feel for the checkout portion of the site?
Absolutely! From within the Store Manager, you can click on Checkout Manager. This will allow you to upload your logo, change colors, and so much more!
